Writing a Helpful Review
Published on July 5, 2025
Key Principles for a Great Review:
Be Honest & Authentic:
- Share your genuine experience. Your review should reflect your true interaction with the business or service.
- Only review experiences you've personally had. Do not review businesses you have a personal or professional connection to, or experiences you haven't directly undergone.
- Consider providing proof of purchase. For many businesses, we offer the option to mark your review as "Revuoo Verified Purchase" by uploading a receipt, invoice, or booking confirmation. This significantly boosts the credibility and impact of your review, helping others trust your feedback.
Be Specific & Detailed:
- Instead of "It was good," explain why it was good. What specifically did you like or dislike?
- Mention names of products, services, or even employees if they made a notable impact (positive or negative).
- Describe the context of your experience (e.g., "I visited on a busy Saturday afternoon," "I used their online service for a refund").
Be Balanced & Fair:
- Even if your experience was largely negative, try to maintain a respectful tone. Focus on the facts of the situation rather than personal attacks.
- If there were pros and cons, mention both. A balanced review is often perceived as more credible.
Be Relevant & Actionable:
- Keep your review focused on the business's services, products, or customer experience.
- Think about what would be helpful for others considering using this business. What did you wish you knew beforehand?
- Avoid irrelevant personal rants, political commentary, or off-topic discussions.
What to Include in Your Review:
- What service/product did you use?
- When did the experience take place? (Approximate date)
- What were your expectations?
- What was your actual experience? (The good, the bad, the surprising)
- What was the outcome? (Were you satisfied? Was the issue resolved?)
- Would you recommend this business to others and why?
What to Avoid (and May Result in Removal):
- False or Misleading Information: Do not fabricate experiences.
- Hate Speech, Discrimination, or Personal Attacks: Reviews must be respectful.
- Confidential or Private Information: Do not share personal data of others.
- Off-Topic Content or Spam: Keep your review relevant to the business.
- Promotional Content: Do not use reviews for self-promotion or advertising.
- Threats or Harassment: Reviews should never be used to intimidate.
Your Impact:
Every review you write contributes to a more transparent and trustworthy marketplace. By following these guidelines, you're not just sharing your opinion; you're building a more informed community for everyone. Thank you for being a valued Revuoo contributor!
